Pummba

Behind every piece of furniture, there’s a way of thinking. Josep Sánchez, CEO of Pummba, tells us about how this modular sofa system was born—one that avoids excess and focuses on the essentials. Together with the founder, Toni Estellé, and his co-CEO, Ferran Vila, they are building a brand that champions comfort, versatility, and a new way of understanding relaxation. A conversation about design and purpose.

WHAT DOES COMFORT MEAN TO YOU?

Comfort is that sense of wellbeing that makes you feel at home, wherever you are. At Pummba, we believe comfort isn’t just physical — it’s also emotional: good design, quality materials, and an aesthetic that reflects your style all help create welcoming, functional spaces.

IF YOU HAD TO DEFINE PUMMBA IN ONE SENTENCE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Pummba redefines the sofa: high design delivered in a box within 24 hours — adapting to your life and transforming your home.

WHAT MAKES A SOFA WORK IN ANY TYPE OF SPACE?

The key lies in versatility. A sofa should balance aesthetics and function, offering modular options, well-proportioned dimensions, and materials that integrate seamlessly into different environments.

PUMMBA NATURE INTRODUCES WOOD INTO ITS DESIGN. WHAT ROLE DOES THIS MATERIAL PLAY IN ITS EVOLUTION?

Wood is noble, sustainable, and timeless. With Pummba Nature, we want to bring its warmth and authenticity into our designs — creating sofas that are not only comfortable but also environmentally conscious and visually connected to the natural. It’s another step forward in our design philosophy.

NOW PUMMBA ARRIVES AT RI HOUSE. HOW DO YOU IMAGINE PEOPLE INTERACTING WITH IT IN THIS SPACE?

RI HOUSE is a space for inspiration and creativity, and Pummba fits perfectly within that spirit. I imagine people approaching with curiosity — sitting down, sinking into the cushions, stretching out, feeling the fabrics. We want the experience to feel personal, like an invitation to design your own comfort in a thoughtful space.
